The Industrial Painter is a craftsperson who specializes in industrial surfaces.

What Do Industrial Painters Do?

A commercial/residential (branch 1) painter/decorator’s activities include the preparation of surfaces, application of coating to surface, faux finishes and wall coverings (brush, roll and spraying applications). It also involves the application of varnishes, lacquers, sealers,stains, water & solvent borne paints, glazes and alkyds paints.

An Industrial (branch 2) painter/decorator’s activities include the preparation of surfaces, application of coatings to surfaces and performance of work on substrates by mechanical and chemical processes. The application for an Industrial Painter/Decorator includes the interior and exterior walls of industrial structures such as factories, bridges, girders, guardrails, sheds, outdoor storage tanks and a host of additional installations. The preparation may involve the removal of old paint by the use of sandblasting, liquid paint remover and scrapers. The surfaces then require covering with a specified ready-mix paint or special coating using brushes, rollers or spray guns.
