What is a Steamfitter?
The union members of the steamfitting trade are responsible for the installation, repair and maintenance of systems of pipes which distribute steam and hot water heating and cooling throughout the structure of a building. The members of this trade do not only install and maintain heating and cooling systems, they also layout, assemble, install, maintain and repair pipes for a number of other purposes, including cooling systems, systems that convey gas and the tubing for pneumatic and air-handling systems and related equipment.
