 Carpenter(s)

Carpenters measure, saw, level and nail wood and other building materials. They installtile and insulation, acoustical ceilings, cabinets, siding and much more. Carpenters make up the largest single group of skilled workers in the country. They work with many tools and materials to build houses, erect skyscrapers, construct bridges, tunnels and highways.                                          


     Cement mason        

The Union Cement Mason finishes concrete flooring by hand or machine. This includes the application of curing and surface treatments. Their work also involves waterproofing and restoring concrete; rubbing up and repairing hardened concrete surfaces; placing and finishing epoxy, plastic and other composition materials and exposing and finishing aggregate in precast and architectural concrete. As a Cement Mason Finisher, the career involves ensuring that cement forms have been properly built.

 Compulsory Certification
Compulsory trade qualification (CQ) certification is a requirement under the Trade Qualification and Apprenticeship Act (TQAA) that sets out certification requirements for certain trades and apprenticeship training requirements that all work in the certified trade must be performed by a fully certified skilled tradesperson or a registered apprentice. Currently certification requirements exist for following trades: electricians, hoisting engineers, plumbers, refrigeration and air conditioning mechanics, sheet metal workers and steamfitters.


 Construction
Construction is the building or assembling of any infrastructure on a site or sites. Although it may be thought of as a single activity, in fact, construction is a feat of multitasking.


 Construction craft worker(s)
Construction Craft Workers prepare, excavate, backfill, compact and clean up a work site. They also handle materials as well as ship and receive parts. Construction Craft Workers primarily work in the construction industry, governed by the Apprenticeship Certification Act (ACA). Craft Workers must be able to do hard physical work and work at great heights. They are also trained to read and understand blueprints, health and safety, and have and perform mechanical aptitude. They are sometimes seen as a “Jack of all trades”.


 Contractor(s)
An organization or individual that contracts with another organization or individual (the owner) for the construction of a building, road or other facility. A general contractor usually is responsible for the supplying of all material, labor equipment and services necessary for the construction of the project. To do this it is common for the general contractor to subcontract part of the work to other persons and companies that specialize in these types of work. These are called "subcontractors".


 Crane (same as: tower crane)
A crane is a tower or derrick equipped with cables and pulleys that can be used to lift and lower materials and to shift them horizontally. Cranes are often employed in the construction industry and are usually temporary structures, either fixed to the ground or mounted on a purpose-built vehicle. Cranes may either be controlled from an operator in a cab that travels with the crane, by a pushbutton pendant control station, or by infared or radio control

 Crane Operating Engineer(s)
Crane Operating Engineers (or Hoisting Engineers) are involved in the set-up and operation of electric-powered cranes (Tower Crane Operator) or Mobile cranes with booms that are mounted on crawlers and wheels (Mobile Crane Operator). They calculate crane capacity and weights, hoist, raise, move and position objects and loads that weigh in the tons in response to audio or hand signals from crew members. They perform difficult maneuvers in sometimes tricky situations
